Based in Delhi, Shishir Deo is a member of Spencer Stuart’s Financial Services Practice and leads the firm’s Insurance Practice in the Asia Pacific region. Shishir is also a part of the Financial Officer Practice, specializing in CFO transitions. He spent 20 years in the financial services and insurance industry before joining Spencer Stuart in 2019, and brings deep experience working with NBFCs, HFCs, fintechs, payment organizations and banks.
Extensive financial and insurance industry experience
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Shishir spent 11 years in various verticals within the insurance industry, most recently leading group sales, credit life, business development and strategy at Future Generali Life Insurance.
- Prior to that appointment, he led the corporate sales and business development verticals at Aviva Life Insurance.
- In 2008, Shishir helped found Aegon Religare Life Insurance Company, focusing on the company’s agency distribution business.
- He launched his finance career with eight years at Citibank in both the assets and liability sides of business, acting as a part of the bank’s mortgage business in Bangalore and Delhi before leading the loan against property (LAP) business for North India. He went on to lead one of the bank's largest branches in India (Gurgaon), and finally led the consumer banks business banking (and SME lending) vertical for North India.
Shishir earned his M.B.A. in marketing and finance from The Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University and his B.A. in economics from St. Stephens College, Delhi University. In addition to English, Shishir speaks Hindi, Oriya and Telugu.
