Manie Dreyer is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Industrial Practice and leads the firm’s global Metals & Mining Practice. He focuses primarily on CEO and senior executive assignments for clients in the metals, mining, agriculture and infrastructure sectors. He also does extensive work on ESG, sustainability and the energy transition efforts, advising clients on the leadership needed to meet their sustainability and decarbonization goals, including the recruitment of chief sustainability officers and ESG leaders.
Based in the firm’s Houston office, Manie brings more than 25 years of first-hand industry and functional expertise, including experience as chief executive officer, whilst holding senior leadership roles covering operations, marketing, project engineering and business development. Manie has conducted more than 150 board director and executive search assignments for clients, and he is also a recipient of the firm’s Lou Rieger Quality Award for client service.
CEO experience and broad global perspective
- Before joining Spencer Stuart, Manie was CEO of a mining and trading company based in Louisville, Kentucky.
- Prior to this work, Manie spent 21 years at international mining company BHP Billiton, working across Africa, Europe, Asia, South America and the U.S.
- He previously served as director of the Richards Bay Coal Terminal in South Africa, director and executive council member of the South African Chamber of Mines, director of the U.S. National Mining Association and director of the World Coal Association.
Manie holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Johannesburg and a master's degree in business leadership from the University of South Africa.
