George Craft leads Spencer Stuart’s global Financial Services Practice. He is also a core member of the firm’s Private Equity, CEO, Financial Officer and Boards practices. Based in Stamford and New York, George has extensive experience advising financial services companies on board and leadership recruitment, succession and human capital strategy. Additionally, George has extensive experience within asset management, specialty finance and the private markets, which includes leading senior investor and executive searches at private equity, credit, and hedge funds.

Extensive financial services and private equity expertise

  • George helps manage the firm’s relationships at many leading alternative asset management and private equity firms. George’s client base spreads the breadth of the financial services industry, ranging from work with global multinational companies as well as with middle-market and boutique institutions. Much of his recent work has occurred at the intersection of financial services and the private markets. He currently serves on the firm’s Americas Leadership Team.
  • George is also a respected advisor to CEOs, CHROs and boards (public and private equity-backed) about succession planning, assessment, corporate culture, top team composition and organizational structure.
  • George has a decade of experience at Spencer Stuart. Prior to joining the firm, he was a consultant within McKinsey & Co’s Financial Services and Private Equity Groups.
  • Earlier in his career, he worked as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch and Bank of America and worked in the Strategy and Business Development Group at Cargill.

George holds an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a B.A., cum laude, from Washington & Lee University.
