Based in London, Emily leads Spencer Stuart’s Legal, Compliance & Government Affairs Practice in the UK. As a former practicing lawyer with over 15 years of executive search experience, Emily understands the demands facing leaders in the legal function and the capabilities necessary to succeed. She is a trusted advisor to public and private companies across all sectors, with particular expertise in fast-paced, consumer-facing and heavily regulated sectors. She specializes in recruiting general counsel, deputy general counsel, regional and divisional general counsel, corporate secretaries, chief compliance officers and heads of government affairs.
Emily also advises and guides executive teams and investors on leadership strategy, search mandates, succession planning, executive assessment and top team effectiveness. She brings deep expertise in building teams for emerging or growing organizations as well as private equity–backed businesses.
Extensive on-the-ground legal and executive search expertise
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Emily practiced as a lawyer at White & Case, where she specialised in intellectual property law in both their London and Johannesburg offices.
- Prior to becoming a lawyer, Emily worked in events management and hospitality. A keen traveller, she has lived and worked in London, Paris, Seville, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Zambia.
Emily graduated from Edinburgh University with an M.A. (Honours) in French and Spanish before studying law at BPP Law School in London, where she earned a post-graduate degree. She is a qualified solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, and speaks English, French and Spanish.
