Cliff Howe leads Spencer Stuart's Energy Practice in Canada and is a member of the global Financial Services, Private Equity, CEO and Board practices. Cliff has extensive experience successfully recruiting board directors and CEOs as well as a wide range of other C-level executives in both Canada and the United States and previously led the firm’s Calgary office which he opened in 2008.
Industry and financial expertise
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Cliff worked in Towers Perrin’s enterprise risk management and executive compensation and rewards groups.
- Before the company’s acquisition by Towers Perrin, Cliff was a partner with Risk Capital, an independent management consulting firm headquartered in New York that provided risk and transaction advisory services to companies in the energy, chemicals, mining and financial services industries. He opened the firm’s first Canadian office in Calgary.
- Cliff spent nine years at TransCanada, where he held various vice president roles in the energy trading, risk management and CFO groups. He began his professional career with KPMG in Calgary.
Cliff earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and a C.A. designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
