Rowen Bainbridge co-leads Spencer Stuart’s Board and CEO Practice in EMEA. He is also a consultant in the firm’s Industrial Practice, focusing on the international energy transition, oil and gas, renewables and utilities, and mining and commodity sectors around the globe (having previously led the firm’s advisory work in the natural resources industry and the Industrial Practice in the UK). He is also a co-founder of the firm’s Carbon Task Force and Sustainability Practice, dedicated to helping clients meet their ESG requirements and pivot their commercial, strategic and people plans to meet their sustainability and decarbonization goals. Based in the firm’s London office, Rowen brings more than 24 years of first-hand industry and functional expertise to his role, including experience as chief executive officer, chief marketing officer and board member.
Industry and senior leadership expertise
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Rowen held various international business leadership roles in the energy and natural resources industry, most recently serving as CEO of a UK publicly listedenergy company.
- Rowen has experience in diverse environments and business cultures, spanning large multinationals, smaller privately owned and listed businesses, as well as startups. He has worked extensively in the areas of strategy development and implementation, business transformation and growth, and operational and line management.
- He began his career with ICI and after a number of years in energy trading and risk management roles in European energy trading companies, moved to New Zealand to join Fletcher Challenge Limited. He then spent nearly seven years at BHP Billiton in Melbourne and London, covering multiple commodities and geographies across the entire value chain. Latterly, he specialised in the energy sector primarily in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Africa.
Rowen holds a BSc in civil engineering from Loughborough University and an MSc in management studies from Durham University Business School.
