Michel Masson is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Melbourne office. He is a member of the global Industrial, Education, Nonprofit & Government and Infrastructure practices. A trusted leader with more than a decade’s experience as a private- and public-sector CEO, Michel is a globally minded leader with expertise in strategic planning and execution, team leadership, organizational development and advocacy.
Experienced leader with a broad range of experience
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Michel was the inaugural CEO of Infrastructure Victoria, an independent statutory body providing strategic advice on infrastructure to the Government of the State of Victoria, in Australia.
- Previously, Michel was the CEO of Yarra Trams, the largest tram network in the world, in Melbourne. As the CEO of Keolis-Downer, he led the operational start of the Gold Coast Light Rail and positioned the company as a top-three public transportation player in Australia.
- In 2005, Michel joined Keolis in France as head of Finance and Operations for the International Division where he was responsible for leading public transport operations in seven countries. He also held various non-executive director positions in UK and German rail franchises.
- Michel started his career at Deloitte before joining the Bollore Group, where he held various senior finance positions in the transport and logistics division in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Michel is a graduate from the EDHEC Business School in France and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He also completed the Advanced Management Program from the Harvard Business School. In 2017, Michel was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Technology from Swinburne University in recognition of his contribution to shaping infrastructure in Victoria.
