Betsy Karamitis is a member of Spencer Stuart’s global Private Equity, Restructuring and Consumer practices. Based in New York City, Betsy advises private equity funds and their portfolio companies on due diligence and talent strategy across the entire investment life cycle. She also recruits directors and executives to companies in, or emerging from, financial distress. Based on her experience in private equity, credit and talent consulting, Betsy works as a strategic adviser and partner to investors as they explore optimal ways to deploy capital and grow shareholder value.
Building out the Private Equity and Restructuring practices with robust experience
- Betsy works with private equity clients across the consumer landscape and provides pre-deal support, including due-diligence support, and identifying, assessing and recruiting the right leadership to accelerate value creation.
- Betsy has executed several board rebuilds for companies emerging from bankruptcy, recruiting directors to new boards and advising creditor groups taking control of companies on board composition and selection.
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Betsy led the consumer practice for an executive search and advisory firm focused exclusively on the private equity markets. Betsy supported clients across the entire deal process from investment thesis development to due diligence support and pre- and post-deal management team/board searches.
- Betsy started her career in credit, as a lender in the financial sponsor group at Bankers Trust and GE Capital, before moving over to Cyrus Capital, a deep-value focused hedge fund.
She holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in statistics & biometry from Cornell University.
