As of 2025, Ben Machtiger is a senior advisor at Spencer Stuart, having previously served as its chief marketing and communications officer, and as a member of the firm’s global leadership team, for over 20 years. For almost a decade, Ben simultaneously served as the firm’s chief strategy officer, during a period of considerable transformation as the firm initiated its evolution to a broader leadership advisory firm.

Ben is an expert and leader in B2B services marketing and strategy, with decades of broad leadership experience globally across professional services, consulting and other complex sectors.

Building Brand Experience

  • During his Spencer Stuart tenure, Ben has supported four CEOs and five chairs in helping the firm achieve substantial growth. He was responsible for leading and managing marketing and communications programs worldwide, including brand strategy, practice-level programs, thought leadership development, digital marketing, media relations, sponsorships, service offering positioning and internal communications.
  • Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Ben was managing partner of the New York office of Prophet, a global marketing and strategy consultancy serving leading multinationals.
  • Ben spent 19 years with Young & Rubicam (within the WPP group) in multiple roles and business units, including leading global integrated marketing relationships for key strategic clients such as Accenture and AT&T. Within Y&R, Ben also served as chief operating officer of the B2B marketing agency Marsteller Advertising and as a managing director of Burson-Marsteller.

Ben is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University, and also received an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
